What does Star South do?
Based in Wellington, South Africa, Star South serves four key groups across the diverse sector of fresh produce: fruit producers and retailers, both within South Africa and abroad. Besides becoming South Africa’s largest importer of table grapes, stone fruit and kiwis, we’ve expanded our portfolio to include citrus, pomegranates, apples, pears, figs and dates – sourced and sold across the globe.
How does the learnership work?
- The programme will run for 18 months.
- You will be based within the Finance division and be exposed to various tasks to ensure a well-rounded experience.
- This programme is ideal for candidates who have completed their N6 and require 18 months’ work experience to obtain their qualification.
What are the candidate requirements?
- Minimum NQF 6 Diploma in Finance
- Fluency in English and Afrikaans
- Reliable transport
- Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Excel
- Administration skills
- Resilience and the ability to work under pressure
- Committed and hardworking nature
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Accuracy in work and attention to detail
- Self-discipline
What are the basic duties?
- Performing bank reconciliations
- Capturing invoices and credit notes
- Updating daily currencies
- Processing general journals
- Managing debtor and creditor control, invoicing and reconciliations
- Preparing weekly and monthly payments
