What does Star South do?

Based in Wellington, South Africa, Star South serves four key groups across the diverse sector of fresh produce: fruit producers and retailers, both within South Africa and abroad. Besides becoming South Africa’s largest importer of table grapes, stone fruit and kiwis, we’ve expanded our portfolio to include citrus, pomegranates, apples, pears, figs and dates – sourced and sold across the globe.

How does the learnership work?

  • The programme will run for 12-months
  • You will be based within in Finance division and be exposed to various tasks to ensure well-rounded experience
  • This programme is ideal for candidates who has completed their N6 and require work experience to obtain their qualification

What are the candidate requirements?

  • Minimum NQF6 Diploma in Finance
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
  • Reliable transport
  • Computer literate, especially
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Administration skills
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure
  • Committed and hardworking
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work with accuracy and have attention to detail
  • Self-disciplined

What are the basic duties?

  • Bank reconciliations
  • Capturing invoices and credit notes
  • Processing of general journals
  • Debtor/ Creditor control, invoice, and reconciliations
  • Prepare weekly and monthly payments

He has experience in all major business areas, including farming, handling, transport, logistics, IT, marketing operations, finance, management, international and domestic affairs. He is fluent in French and also has basic Spanish language skills.
